Event: Make a Lego Brick Film
When: Mon, Jun 28 5:30 am – Fri, Jul 2 9:00 am
Description: A Brick film is an animated film that uses LEGO® characters and pieces to tell a story. If you’ve ever wanted to direct your own movies or like making up stories, then this camp is for you. Using digital cameras, Stop Motion Pro animation software, and video editing software, you’ll create multi-scene movies with transitions, titles, credits, sound effects and narration. Design your own set with backgrounds, characters, and scenery. The stories are up to your imagination.

This is a great class to take with friends. No experience is necessary and you can take this class as many times as you like. Students take home a DVD with their movies at the end of the week.

Location: The Brown School, 150 Corlaer Avenue Schenectady, NY

Event: Video Game Creation
When: Mon, Jun 28 10:00 am – Fri, Jul 2 1:30 pm
Description: If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. Your imagination is the limit as you use GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. You’ll learn about creating sprites, objects, events and actions. Design a room, make it look the way you want, add objects and play your game. We’ll teach you how to display health, lives, score, splash screens and high score tables. Using drag and drop programming, you’ll be creating exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends.

You can keep making games when you get home as the software is an inexpensive download from the Internet. If you think you’ve got a great idea for a game, you want to see what it would be like to be a game designer, or you just think computer games are fun, this class is for you. You must be experienced using a computer to take this class. If you’ve taken our Game Creation After School Class, this class goes into greater depth and reinforces previous learning.

Description: This exciting class teaches you how to build and program the LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT robots, the coolest robot available. You will use your new skills to meet such challenges as reacting to intruders, moving objects to different locations, stinging an intruder with a robot tail, or beating your opponent at LEGO® Sumo, a BBB favorite.

You don’t need any experience with robotics or programming to begin your robotic adventure. Students who took our robotics After School Class can take this for a more solid foundation or move on to the Advanced Robot Challenges. All robot classes will be taught with the new LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT robot. The new robot system includes a new programming language, a new building system, and new sensors, including a sound sensor and ultrasonic sensor.

*Robots are for use by students in class only. The robots are expensive, and students will not be able to take them home

Event: Video Game Creation
When: Mon, Jul 12 5:30 am – Fri, Jul 16 9:00 am
